North Shore Disaster and Climate Risk Profile

HRVA Story Map

Resilience Mapping Canada developed a disaster and climate risk profile story map for eight hazards prominent across Metro Vancouver’s North Shore region.

The Story Map included:

  • An introductory video integrated into the land acknowledgement

  • 16 maps of hazard exposure and historic events

  • Many figures and photographs highlighting sections of the story’s narrative

  • Information and links to local alerts and notifications, household preparedness guides, & evacuation guide.

An extreme heat event is an extended period of dangerously high temperatures and/or humidity. Specific thresholds for daytime highs, overnight lows, and humidity levels will vary for different ecoregions.
